RACING MOTORIST KILLED.

(Received September 16th, 7.55 p.nu) NEW YORK, September 15. At Syracuse, New York, Jimmy Murphy, in an attempt to overtake Phil Shafer, who was winning a 150 miles automobile race, ran off the track into a picket fence, where one of the pickets penetrated his lungs.

Murphy died on arrival at the hospital.
