During the week the tramway authorities have been utilising the new trailers on the race and trotting special cars. Mr Frank Thompson, general manager of the tramways, informed a reporter yesterday that this action had been "greatly appreciated By racegoers. In view of the competition by taxis and motor ivehicles it was considered advisable that the best tramway rolling stock should be used. This involved the use of old trailers for ordinary traffic, but as special fares are charged on the caxs running to the races and the trotting course, and as the profits from these sjjeciai runs go to the credit of the whole undertaking and help to keep ordinary fares down, Mr Thompson does not anticipate that the regular t>sers of the tramways will raise any serious objection to the deprivation of the new trailers during race week.
