TUNNEL MISHAP. (SPECIAL TO "TH3 P8153.") GREYMOUTH, August 10. Through an accident to the overhead gear in the Otira tunnel, both expresses were considerably delayed on Saturday. There was a record attendance of members at a meeting of-tho Grey Valley branch of the Farmers' Union to hear an address by Mr J. Murdoch, secretary of the Ross Co-operative Lime j Company. In the course of his remarks, Mr Murdoch .said that the company intended shortly to manufacture cement, hydraulic lime, and carbide. It was resolved to telegraph to the Minister of Public Works urging him to make a grant of £285 for-Donnelly's creek bridge, which will give better access to the lime company 'b works. . Mr Instone, manager of the Beef ton branch of the,' Bank of New Zealand, accompanied by Mra Instone, leaves for Invercatgill on Tuesday for a month's holiday, During his absence Mr Aspinall will he relieving manager. Mr George Mason, ilway goods foreman, has been notifi of his transfer to FranKton Junction as coaching foreman. Mr P. Gaines, of Lyttelton, will take over " his ' duties at Greymouth.

Mrs Felton was entertained at a social by the Holy Trinity Ladies' CFuild, and presented with a handbag and pair of silver vases. The members of the team chosen, tj represent the Coast at the boxing championships were given a flattering sendoff on Saturday. Those selected were: —J. Garvey, L. O'Neill," B. Pascoe,. N. Kiely,' and S. Purtoni and they were accompanied by Mr : Een Williams (manager) and* Captain' Mollinson (trainer).
