HALSWELL. ! monthly meeting of the Harwell vJoucty Council was held on Thursday, there being present—Crs. Ifuloock (chairman), Morten, Patera mi, and Stuart. An apology was tendered for the absence of Cr. Eaglesome. -,.? 11 .reference to u. complaint regarding the dilapidated condition of a houso in Tankervillc, tho clerk reported that, there was nothing to justify the issue of a demolition order. This view being supported by the Health Inspector, it wat, resolved to inform tho petitioners accordingly. ! This chairman w&3 deputed to# interview the District Health Officer in the matter of c.cunty health inspections. Tho Wairewa. County Council wroto asking that delegates T>o appointed to attend a meeting of representatives of North Canterbury local bodies, for tho purpose of discussing hospital levies, charges, etc. Cra. Muloock, Morten, and Macartney were appointed to attend. j Tho Canterbury Progress Leaguo forwarded copies of the sixth annual report and bal- I ahce<-:h&et. It was resolved to support the ! League by granting the usual contribution. Mr "W. B. Allen gave notice of intention to dedicate a strip of land on Hoon Hay road for street widoning purposes, «The Vaimakariri River Trust wroto retarding the collection of rates on behalf of the trust. It was resolved to reply that tho Council w&a prepared to colloct on tho usual commission, plus expenses incurred. Crs. Muloock, -Peterson, and tho clerk were appointed to attend a meeting to bo heid for tho purpose of considering the basis of 1 apportionment of the license fees_ collected under the Christchurch loea-1 bodies' heavy j traffic by-law. . ;| It was resolvod to fall in with '.ha sag- | pestton of tho Citizens' Reception snd Entertainment Committee: "That the balance of tho funds colloctod in connexion with the visit of thp Special Service Squadron; bo reserved for "future Koyal or Naval visits. Cr. Macartney was appointed to attend tno meeting of the committee. Tho Halswell Burgesses' Association -wrote asking that some inspection be exercised over old buildings being removed into the county.
