MEETING OP COMMITTEE.

' The monthly meeting; of the General Committee of tho Northern A. and PAeeociation was held yesterday. Ninetee© members wore present and Mr W. A. Kelchcr (president) was in t-faa chair. The annual subscription of £1 Is to ! tha Progress League, and grant of £1 j Is to the Kaiapoi Technical School wore passed for payment. 1 Tho Finance Committee reported tlio *)ank credit balance to bo £43 ICte 2<l. and that there wero accounts for payment amounting to about £l2O. It rt> commended that the members of the committee act as guarantors for aw overdralt of .-€2OO to insure tho Association's accounts being promptly paid, also that the outstanding subscriptions and accounts bo placed in a collector's bands. The report was adopted. The chairman suggested that a definite move should now be made to erect the Association's hall, and that a subcommittee should bo appointed to obtain plans c.nd specifications of a suitable building to submit to the fund committee with proposals regarding the financing of the project, for which about £SOO is already in hand and another £2OO- promised. It was decided to act on the chairman's suggestion, and a committee was elected consisting of Messrs W. A. Banks, J. Stevenson. J. W. Foster, f. Leech, It. Mcintosh, and li. Mao donald. It was decided to hold the regular meetings of the committee in future on tiie second. Tuesday in each month.
