I MASONIC CONVERSAZIONE AT METHVEN. The annual conversazione in connexion with the Methven Masonic Lodge was held in the Town Hall on Wednesday evening, and was an exceptionally successful function. The hall was tastefully decorated with coloured streamers, the colours being representative of the Lodge degrees. The sup-per-room was also decorated, the same scheme of colours being employed. The work was carried out under the supervision of Bro. A. Bremer, who is to be congratulated on the effect produced. The music for the dance was supplied by Mr Daybourn's orchestra, and the quality of this was no doubt responsible for much of the evening's enjoyment. Extras wer played by. A large crowd of dancers attended the annual ball of'the Leeston Football Club on Wednesday evening. The hall decorations were of streamers of red and white, the colours of the club, and the banner was prominently displayed. Mr H. D. Jones was M.C., and Miss E. BALL AT HALKETT. Tlie bafhelors of Halkett held their annual ball on Friday flight, when there was a large attendance, and a most enjoyable time was spent. '' STYX GUN CLUB'S DANCE. On. Tuesday evening the Styx Gun. Club .held a very successful - euchre party and dance in the Papanui' Memorial Hall, excellent music being supplied by Niittall's Orchestra. Extras were played by Mrs C. Smith. A dainty supper was served under ther supervision of Mrs E. Blair, assisted by fclesdames Hookham, Pearce, Kettle, Ives, Jiell, Barnard and Snedaon. Tiie euchre prizes were won by Mrs Clarke Ist,'Mrs B. Smith 2nd,. Mr Mewinson Ist, Mr Coatello 2nd. The dutieß of M.C. were capably carried out by Mr J. Cai'rlngton. Amongst those present were:
