MEETING OP BOARD. The monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of the Y.M.C.A;.was held .on Tuesday, the president, Mr A. F. Ca/ey, being in the chair. The chairman briefly reviewed thg woxJc of the past month, commending, the boys' department on having reached the 600 membership mark and on .the record attendance of 350 mothers and 'sons- at their recent banquet. Hi ontlined,the programmeof the, Association for the next month, laying stress on the Thursday Lunch Hour Club, Wednesday night Psychology Class, under the leadership of Mr Beeby, and the after church social on July 20th. A letter was recaived from the Senior Cabinet in answer to & questionnaire sent to them regarding Sunday evening services, which stated that ns suitable speakers, visited the city the Y.M.C.A. should, ask then to conduct a mass meeting in one of our city theatres. The matter of a Sunday night service, for adolescent Boys was discussed, and left in the hands of the. secretaries to consult the Council of Christian Congregations. A letter was received from the. Honolulu Association asking the Christchurch "Association to make an effort to be present at the Pan-Pacific Conference at Honolulu m July, 1925, when Pacific problems would he discussed. ' The boys' director, Mr. T. M. Haslett, asked for an additional room, as his membership' had. outgrown the present accommodation.' The Board granted T»vnn room 23. The Board discussed at some length the advisability of establishing Y.M.C A., branches in the suburbs. This was left in the hands of tho Boys' .Work Committee to act as opportunity arose. It was decided that ths first experiment be made at Sydenham. Tho Physical Department Committee 1 reported that their social, held last week, attracted iOO people, and more floor space would be "needed if they wished to progress. The date of the physical' display ' was set down for October 4th, to he held at the Theatre Royal. The Board made a grant to the department for preparatory expenses. The senior department report showed a steady increase in membership, with the addition to the staff, temporarily, iof Mr R. J. Jeffs.
