Why can't they stand their own charge for lieadt?ofks? I'm afraid the statement that the city wants these headwords for its own purpose is valueless. There is ;no doubt they are required solely to Supply these additions, .so let the aforesaid areas pay their own cost. I am right out against us city ratepftyeH finding one cent, to provide waterworks for these outsido areas. • It whs all very, well for Councillors to promise water, etc., bat it is another matter for city ratepayers. These aro the sort of mei'K who generally want something for nothing, or want if somebody elso will pay for it. Beware' of the'mnn who is always talking about "economics"; ho generally advocates improvements at the ojcpeii&o of anyone but himself. City ratepayers must make a point of voting out this poll. If Bromley, Opawa, etc., want water and kertdworks they can vote on the scheme themselves and not thrust half their cost on to myself and others who pay wow heavy rates.-—Yours, etc.. ■ , ..
