MISCELLANEOUS CABLES.
The explosion aboard the United States battleship Mississippi on June 12th, in which 44 men mi three officers were killed, resulted from insufficient air-pressure used in cleaning the bore Pi a big gun,—Keuter.

The ringleader is said to be a nominated civilian immigrant.
A dt/utation from seven wholesale distributing firms strongly represented to Mr Bavin (Attorney-General for New South Wales) that thg penal provisions of the Monopolies Act should bo applied to certain companies in New South Wales, who are alleged to be withholding supplies from certain wholesale 'houses in Sydney. Mr Bavin promised to investigate.
The new wireless broadcasting regulations in Australia became . effective yesterday.
Mr Bruce has issued a denial of the published statement that the Australian Cabinet is considering plans for the building of a floating dock at Coclcotoo Island.
