MEETING QP COMMITTEE.

The General Committee of. the Canterbury A. and P. Association met yesterday. Present: Mr E. M. D. Morten chairman), and Messrs Jas. Deans, E. E. Alexander, A. Chamberlain, John Deans, W. Havward, W. F. Parkinson, H. E. Peiymnn, Eobt. Reid, D. \v. Westenra, J. O. Coop, J. "W. Foster Duncan Gillanders. E. Hay, 0. G. Jarman, W. J. Jenkins, H. S. S. Kyle, W. H. Nicholson. Normnn Eutherford, J. H. Stafford, Gordon Stoddart, L. W. Storry, and J. O. MeGillivrny. Apologies for absence were received from Sir Geo. Clifford rmd ilessrs K W. Lochliead, Jas Stevenson, Thos. Stevenson, K. Murchison, and F. Hubbard.

The chairman welcomed Mr J. O. Coop as a member 'of the committee, Mr Coop returning thanks.

Sheep Competitions Committee. The Sheep Competitions Committee reported as follows: —

At a.meeting held on June 18th, it was decided that the entrance fee for both competitions, Merino and Haifbred, be 10s 6d per ram, and that in the Merino competition a second and a third prize of £3 3s and £2 2s respectively be offered. That the Inbred Haifbred competition be deleted. It was decided) that it be a recommendation to the Sheep and Earn Fair Committee that classes be established for the best money value of one of » pen of fat lambs and. twotooth wethers. Breed to he utated.

Sheep and Ram Pair Committee. The report of the Sheep and Earn Fair Committee stated: —

An offer of shields for the same classes and under the same conditions as last year, with the addition of two for the Ryeland section, from the N.Z. Sheepbreeders' Association (5.1.), was accepted with thanks. The schedule was revised and the following alterations and additions recommended: On Page 42—Section 13—Fat Sheep: The words "and must not oe be branded" be deleted. On page 35—end of Section 3 Merino: A new class be added, "Ram above 16 months and under 28 months shorn on or before October Ist, 1924." Fat Sheep Section: Tho following classes to be added;: 3 lambs (ewe or wether), any breed or cross not exceeding 421b .(breed must be stated), bred and fed by exhibitor, netting the most money for carcase, skin and fat;, sheep to be killed at close of Show, and the skins, fat and carcase to be sold and returns handed to exhibitor; 3 wethers under 16 months, not exceeding 641b, same conditions as 3 lambs.

Pig Committee. Tho report of tlve Pig Committee stated:—

- It was decided an assistant be provided to bring the pigs out for judging aa was done last year. The schedule was revised, and the following recommendations made: Section. 35: The word "Devon" to be taken out. Classes/ 33-1 and 335 be - deleted and one class substituted, weight not to exceed 1201b. Dairy Produce Committee. The report of the Dairy Produce Committee stated: —

The suggestion that it be stated in the schedule that the judging of the butter and chee3e will be carried out by the Dairy Division was recommended. The Bchedu'e was reviped as follows: —After "distinguishing mark" in the conditions of Section 3S, the words "all butter to be in; plain pats or rolls" be added. The Honey Section to be tho same as the Winter Show flchedule, with tho addition of a class for White Liquid Honey. Class 853: Loaf to be not less than 31b. After Class 381: The following clashes from the Winter Show schedule be added, 1'45, 159, 161, 162, 164, 166, 167,'168, 174, 179, 180. Section 43: Dressed Poultry, to be deleted. Section 44: One ham and _ one flitch of bacon in each class and lard to be not less than 21b, ■in glass jars. Section 45: All exhibits in this section to be grown by exhibitor and seeds to be not less than 20lb. Before Class 393: Include classes fot Ryegrass Seed (Perennial), Ryegrass Seed (Italia n)j Cocksfoot Seed, Linseed. Class 896: To be deleted.

It .was decided to add an art and photographic section in the next Show.

Draught Horse Committee. The report of the Draught Horse Com mittee stated: —

It was decided that on the return of the Shield offered at the Horse Parade, the winner be awarded a gold medal,-valued at £3 3s. The date of the Horse Parade was fixed for September 17th, 1924. Mr J. 11. Stafford was appointed a- measuring steward. The following alterations in the schedule were recommended: Clufs 265 to be deClass 266: The words "or horses" to be deleted. The following were appointed a sub-committeo to discuss the proposed Stallions Bill, and report at a meeting to bo called at an early date: —Messrs Lochhead, Stafford, Kyle, Watson, .and Reid.

Cattle Committee. The' report of the / Cattle Committee stated: —

It was resolved that all special prizes in the schedule be printed in the same type. The following alterations in the schedule were, recommended: —Class 224: Prizes to be £i and £l. Class 230: Prizes to be &3 and £l. The secretary waa instructed to Write the various breed societies suggesting that challenge cups or shields would "be much appreciated, and also to forward a note of condolence to the widow and family of the late Mr Fred. Yaughan. It was decided to recommend that the Murphy Memorial Cup 6e awarded to the exhibitor gaining most points in the Ayrshire Section. light Horse Committee. The report of the Light Horse Committee stated:— The schedule was revised and the following alterations suggested: High Jump to be included in Thursday's programme. Polo Ponies may be entered in other Saddle Classes. Class 309: To be made two classes —ono for Trotters and one for Pacers. The reports, with some slight amendments, were adopted. New Mamfcers. The following new members were elected:—Oflice Typewriter and Supply Co. (Lichfield street), W. L. Donald (Doyleston), John Ballagh (Hororata), P. J. Tattle (Dominion 'Motors, Ltd., Gloucester street).
