HEATHCOTE NEWS.
Methodist Church. Home Mission Services were held in the Methodist Church on Sunday. The preachers were: Morning, Mr Cocks; evening, Mr Deveroux. At the evening service the choir, under Mr 3 W. Huston, contributed special anthems. Miss Agaiha Oetgen was the soloist. After tho service the choir visited the house of Mrs Oetgen, and sang a number of hymns from "bunkey" to her aunt, Mr 3 Loe, who, having reached the venerable age of 32 years, is unable to attend the church. Mrs Loo is one of the early settlers. A Home Mission meeting will be held on Monday, when the Hev. J. Harris, of Cambridge terrace Church, will deliver an addross. The concert in aid of tho Sunday school will bo held on July 3rd, and not on June 2Sth as announced previously. Bowling Club.
Tlie annua! meeting of the Bowling: Club was held on Saturday evening, in the Club Hall, Mr R. Shrimpton presiding over a good attendance. The annual report and balance-sheet were read and adopted. After a very successful season the club finished up with a credit balance of £"2 O. The following officers were elected: —President, Mr C. Flavell; vice-president, Mi J Round; secretary, Mr C. J. Ashley; auditor. Mr L. Salt- green supervisor, Mr J. Morgan; delegate to Centre, Mr J. Morgan; selector!., Messrs R. Slirirnpton and T. F "Williams- Match Committee, Messrs O. Flavell, R. Shrimpton, and TH. Williams; Club Committee, Messrs C. N. Player, O. Smith W. Dcane, and officers ex officio. After the meeting, a smoke concert was held, at which the following contributed items:—Messrs O'Connor, Simmonds, facott, Jarman, Curtis, and Toy. The usual toasts were honoured.
Heathcote Club. The annual meeting of the Heathcote Club was held la-st Thursday evening, Mr L. bait being in the chair. There was a good attendance.
Tho annual report and balance-sheet wer* read and adopted. The balance-sheet showed tho following items: —Receipts for year, ±'l62 lis 4d; expenditure, £134 14s So. credit balance, £7 17s Sd. During the yeai tho club had made improvements and additions to its premises, including a seweragt connexion at a cost totalling £ll2. Consider ing this, the credit balance waa very good indeed.
The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr H. F. Wigram; president, Mr L. Salt; vice-pres'.dent, Mr W. Burrell; club captain, Mr Frank King; deputv-captain, Mr .N. Thompson; committee, Messrs G. Gray, P. Hill, J. Morgan, C. Flavell, and F. Nixon; treasurer, Mr A. Bettle; auditor, Mr J. Williams; 'secretary Mr E. Burberry. The club's dance wh well attended last week. There will be another dance to-mor-row. On July 9th the club will hoH a hard-up dance. Trophies for the best costumes have'been given by Mr L. Flavell and Mx Leathwidi.
