DRAINAGE EXTENSION.
* —. SEWER TENDERS CLOSE TO-DAY
It is anticipated that the Drainage Board at its meeting to-night will accept tenders (which close at 4. o'clock this afternoon) for the Xo. 10 Mf. in Sewer Linwood, and the .No. 11 l<isinc Main, Woolston. These works, when put in hand, will mark the beginning of the Board's comprenensive scheme for the extension of the drainage system to the outlying portions ot the city and its environs. The new works "at Hornby have been concentrating for some time past on the production of concrete pipes of the size required in connexion with No. 11) Rising Main contract, and a good supply of pipes is ready and available for the successful tenderer for the trenching and pipe-laying in connexion with this part of the work. . ~,.,. The steamer Norfolk, winch is bringin? the 24-inch cast-iron pipes for the N"o. 11 Rising Main, is expected to reach Lyttelton from Port Chalmers in a day or two.
