MAORIS AT SEA.
COLOUR QUESTION RAISED.
TROUBLE WITH RHODESIAN PASSENGERS.
(by cable— press association cofibioht.) (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION,) (Received June 17th, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, June 16. A party of 40 Maoris, who are to take part in Wembley tableaux, arrived in the liner Bnrvabool. The voyage from Durban was marked by much unpleasantness, Rhodesinn passengers raising the colour question. The tension became most acute, till Australians and New Zcalanders, sympathising with the Maoris, threatened to throw the Rhodesians overboard. After that there was less trouble. The Maoris had a section of the ship to themselves, and did their own cooking. [The Wanganui Maori healer, Ratana and a large party of natives, left the dominion about 10 weeks ago to connect at Sydney with a steamer for London, The above message almost certainly refers to'Ratona's party.]
