CROYDON TO BE REBUILT.
FINEST AIR STATION IN THE WORLD.
A quarter of a million pounds is to be spent by the Air: Ministry in making Croydon aerodrome the finest air terminus in the world, states the "Manchester Guardian." Already the sites for huge new sheds, in which the Napier D3I.- 34, and Haiidley-Pag-i 'air..'cxhress.es'will be housed, have been marked out v and actual building is to begin almost immediately. All the present air buildings are to be pullet down. In their place up-to-date Customs houses, waiting-rooms, bonded warehouses, and even an hotel are to be.erected. A big new. tract of lovely ground, which will double the area of the aerodrome, is to be acquired, ani an extra farm has been bought, and is to be pulled down to make way for th.flight, sheds. The aerodrome buildings will stand in the centre of the aerqdrome, and a big departure and arrival platform will be arranged in a complete circle round them. Passengers will arrive by motor-car or electric train from London, and, after passing through the Customs house, will descend 7nto subways leading to the different departure platforms in order to avoid any contact with tha general public on the aerodrome after having been through Customs on the outward journey, and before passing after an inward flight. It is expected that before the end of 1925 passenger air expresses will leave and arrive daily for every city of importance in Europe and Northern Africa.
