MAGISTERIAL., THURSDAY. (Before Mr H. Y. Widdowson, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. A statutory first offender was convicted and lined 10b, in defan.t 24 hours' imprisonment. AFTER HOURS. Arthur StraWord, who pleaded guilty to being found on the licensed premises of Storey's Hotel after hours, was convicted and fined 20s and cobU. ALLEGED THEFT., Clarence Michael Woodward, 23 years of age, appeared charged uiat on or about August 9th, 1923, at Couttß Island, he did steal the sum of £5, the property of Koyce Nicholls.

Sergeant Roach asked that the accused be remanded to appear on May 19th at Kaiapoi, as he understood there were five other charges pending. , Th accused was accordingly rem&ivded. THREATENING BEHAVIOUR. Patrick Hayes, 34 years 'of age, who did not appear, and Pcrr.ival Olds, 33 years of age, who' pleaded guilty, were jointly charged that they did use threatening behaviour in St. Asaph street, whereby a breach of the peace wc.s occasioned.. Constable Hughes said that, at G p.m. on Wednesday, he noticed tho accused men fighting on the footpath outside the' Zealandia Hotel, and he arrested them.
