In the manslaughter. case against Frank McDevitt, the driver of the car which knocked down the traffic inspector, Cross, who died from injuries, Harold Shotlander, a passenger in the car, said the car was racing another one on tho road from Trehtham. At one time on the bitumen track the speedometer showed 45 miles an hour. Lawrence Cummins, another passenger, said he thought the car was going too fast and appealed to the driver to "cut it out." Tney passed dozens of cars. , When the car struck Cross it was travelling at from'2o to 25 miles an hour. The case was adjourned till Monday.
