NEW ZEALAND RESTAURANTS.

■..••t ■ • ■ , A LOCAL VENTUBE ON MODEBN LINES. \An entirely new venture of which i Christehurch might be justly proud has been launched by a local and enterprising company, in order to give this city the best in an Up-to-dato Eestaurant Service, based on English and Continental Hues. This new restaurant will be known as the "Loyal Cafe," 131 Annagh street (opposite the back of ,tho old Colosseum). Something over £4OO has been spent in. renovating and decorating the "Loyal Cafe" rooms, which are already surrounded by -a very inviting atmosphere. The furnishing is in the hands of Mr S. Brettell and leaves nothing to be desired. The' lighting effect, which was carried out by the Lauo Co., is, in itself, well worthy of comment. The decorating by Mr Bishop has been carefully thought out, and gives an arI'tistic finish to the rooms. The Manager, Mr D. Johannis, who 'is well known in this city, has had ■ over 30 years' catering experience in I Now Zealand, and as chef in the *Royal i Christehurch, was responsible for many excellent Jockey Club dinners and Masonic functions. The "Loyal Cafe" will havo it? first opening to-morrow (Friday) evening, and from then on will provide a regular and efficient service in luncheons and teas, as well as breakfasts, from 7 a.m., and suppers until 11 p.m. Sunday is no exception to this rule. There ?s also an elaborately furnished and spacious social room, with full orchestra in attendance. The position is central for the'busiest business man, yet at the same time it is sufficiently out of the main thoroughfare tjO enable one to enjoy a rest away from the deafening roar of city traffic. Special attention will be given - to catering for the social wants of the city, weddings, lodge functions, etc., and Mr Johannis will at all times be pleased to attend to enquiries, which will receive his courteous and expert attention. —6
