He reierred to the various activities ot the Society, including the'; excellent work done by the Pipe Band. He aiao spoke of the work done by Mr W. ■ i'raser and his assistants' in connexion with the dances, and closed with a rclerence to the excellent work done by the directors' during the 'year. •"■ Mr Geo. Ritchie seconded the -—motion, which was agreed totwithout discussion. The election of officers resulted:—Patron his Excellency the Governor-General. Lord Jellicoe; president,,Mr C. S. Thomas; vicen presidents, Messrs G. Ritchie, A. McKenzie, R. H. Kankin and Geo. Sey; directors'' Messrs F. G. Bell, R.'W. Donaldson, S. A. McDonald, B. E. Nightingale, A. E. Purse, D. Young, D. G. Irvine, J. T. Caldow, J. 0. Jameson, \V. Bdginton, B. Moore, J. Dowling, C. Corabie, A. P. Stewart, and B. Grant; hon. treasurer, Mf J. S. Day; hon. auditor, Mr J; Mawson Stewart; secretary, Mr W. Geo. Brass. The chairman announced that at a directors' meeting, held just prior to the start of the annual meeting, fourteen new members had been elected: this made a total of between 50 and .60 new members. eir.ee the beginning of the year. Mr J. 0. Jame.cn referred to Sir Harry Lauder's visit and to his advice to the Scotsmen ot.-Christchurch to "get together.' He suggested *hat the directors should take that matter into consideration, and also to consider the question of extending a welcome to new arrivals from Scotland and of making them honorary members of the Society for one yeai. The chairman, said that both matters would be noted.for consideration by the incoming directors. Votes cf thanks were accorded the president, the band, the ladies, Mr Fraser, the members of the Dance and Card Committees. Messrs Purse, Chapman, and Robertson,, and Mesdames Bell and V. Brown were appointed to go into the question of a weekly assembly dance. A sub-committee appointed by the meeting recommended that Muses Violet Robertson and Dorothy Caldow should represent ' the Society at the dancing competitions at Dunedin; Miss Doris Bell to take the place of either if one of the two could not go.
