WELLINGTON, May 14, The Minister of Health announces .that a special committee has ueeii set up to conduct an enquiry into the question of the care and treatment of the. feeble-minded and of sexual perverts in New Zealand. The personnel of the committee is as follows: — The Hon. W. H. Triggs, M.L.C.J chairman. D*. J; S. Elliott and Sir JDonald MoGavin, elected by th'e~ Board of Health. Mr C. E. Matthews, Under-Secretary of the Justice Department, appointed by the Minister of Justice. Mr J. Beck, Officer-in-Charge of special schools, appointed by the Minister of Education* Dr. A. C. Paferson, appointed by the Minister of Health. The is trie order of reference:— To enquire and report as to the necessity for the special cato arid treats nient of the feeble-minded and the Subnormal, and to propose the general means by which such care ftnd treat ment, if any, should be provided; to enquire and report as to the necessity for treatment of mental degenerates and persons charged with sexual ofand to recommend a form of treatment for the various types of cases. It is understood that Dr. Trtihy King, will also be a member of the committee.
