HULL HOLDING TOGETHER. ■':,/ ' _l__V ; ■' '.'•■'■ .: "■-'•■' .\, .. :■• (SWCIAI. •TO "iBM lUH."j. : .". ' '.GEEYMOIJTH, May 14. The Ngahere now has a list of 15 degrees to port, but the hull is holding together we'll. Only a* few members of the crew are regaining : behind in the hope of recovering their effects. There was hojpossityilitj of any salvago work to-day, as seas were, breaking over the vessel, fore-N and aft, and the mails ■ remain on board. One of the local banks had about £ISOO worth of fcold, the product of the Beef ton quartz mines /and Rimu' dredging, operations, ready for shipment to Wellington, en route to'the United States, but luckily it was reserved for the Ngahere's next No instructions have been received to abandon the vessel to the underwriters, and Mr C. W. Moss, Lloyds representative, is away from Greymouth. The nature of the evidence at the preliminary nautical enquiry makes it practically certain that a public enquiry will be held. There is still hope of getting aboard the" vessel, but she has sunk so low in the water that almost every wave sweeps her decks.
