Ringing-in. , At the Supreme Court yesterday the \ "All Smoke" case was opened, dnly half of the witnesses gave evidence, and it is unlikely that the hearing will be concluded today. A conference of representatives of local authorities contiguous to the city, convened by the City Coun--1 cii. arrived at an agreement on several important matters relating to the lay-out of streets. Winter Show. The Canterbury A. and P. Association's Winter Show will be opened this aftetnoon. BRITISH AND FOREIGN.
French Politics. The election returns nre not yet complete, but tho parties of the Left are in a majority. Three names are mentioned :<.s those of likely Premiers. Monkey Gland. Dr. Yoronoff claims that sufficient experiments have now been conducted to demonstrate the infallibility of his rejuvenation process. Japanese Election. With most of the returns to hand, the anti-Government parties are in an overwhelming majority. Already the leading party is preparing Cabinet lists. The Presidency. Socialist candidates have been chosen for the Presidency and Vice-Presidency of the United States. Irish Boundary. It is reported from Belfast that Sir Eobert Borden, former Prime Minister of Canada, has been appointed chairman of the Boundary Com- . mission; but the report is not offi- . cial, and Sir Eobert himself will ■ make no statement. items. A German airman has established a new gliding record. Queen Alexandra's health is reported to be satisfactory.
