"WHAT OH!"
WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY, AND FRIDAY. "Whit Oh!" the brightest revue yet planned by Canter&ury- College students will be presented to the Christehurch public for the first tima on Wednesday night in the Theatre Eoyal. Past revues of the College have been greeted with delight by theatregoers of this city, but "What.Oht" should exceed them all i» its popular and universal appeal. Xhe first or, more popu-ariy/ the first "flutter,' haa as it 3 nrat setting- a bachelor's tiat, in .which- a number of humorous situations' develop. The scene then changes to a land agent's office, ' and the third scene reverts to the flat again. The principal characters in this "flutter are:—The butler (Mr P.. D. Hall), the Colonel. (Mr W. B. Harris),, Reggie (Mr- M. J. Burns), Bebe (Miss O. Owen), House Agent (Mr A. A. G. Reed),' Pamela Rooit (Miss Jf. Biltcliff), Vodka (Mr W. A. Price), the Rev. Horace Hiccup (Mr A. A. G. Reed}, and Major Rooit (Mr L. R. P-timer). Ten musical numbers with appropriate dances and chorus work are woven into the plot. The chief vocal soloist is Miss M. Sowden, and the premiere danseuse is Miss Rose Reynolds. In each Bcene there is smart dialogue, catchy chorus singing, and bright dancing. The Second act will be taken up hy a comedy entitled "Peace," by George Calderon. This act has been entrusted to the Canterbury College Drama Society, which has alreadv produced successful pieces in Christehurch. Bright songs nnd dances form a. feature of the third act, which has its scene laid in a night cltJb. -The whole piece has been going with plenty of vim at rehearsals, and »t the first performance on "Wednesday night "What Oh!" will undoubtedly prove the best effort ever made by College students. The orchestra will piny under the baton of Mr Sydney Williamson. The box plana are now open at The Bristol.
