PAPANUI BURGESSES.
A meeting of the Papamri Burgesses' Association was held Jast night, Mr S. E. McCarthy presiding over a large attendance. The City Council wrote that the Association's request that the name of "St. James' avenue" be retained had been granted. The City Council also wrote informing the Association that the option over part of certain private land for the enlargement of the proposed park would be held until after the poll had been taken. It was decided that the thanks of the Association be tendered to the conductor of the Caledonian Pipe Band for the first openair'contest in the district. Mr R. A. Patrick gave notice of motion that at the annual meeting he would move that the members' annual subscription be increased to Ss. Mr E. H. Andrews, who attended the meeting at the invitation of the secretary, outlined the present position in connexion with the proposed park. He described the site as an ideal one, and urged the members to advertise it freely.
