A very enjoyable social was held in the Town Hall, Lower Riccarton, on Monday, to farewell Mr W. T. Church, who isleavi-ig for the "West Coast to C3ke over the headmastership of the AVataroa school. About eighty couples were present. Mr Alley, .late headmaster of. the Wharenui school, presented Mr Church, on behalf of his friends, with a set of military hah brashes. Musical items were given by Misses Rodmell (2), Jones, Hannan, Stanton, Messrs Rodmell, Chamberlain, Lewis, Cotton (3), and Macintosh, Dancing was indulged in till a lajte hour, terminating with the singing of "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow."
