GERTRUDE ELLIOTT'S FAREWELL TO-NIGHT. The Christchurch season of Miss Gertrude Elliott (Lady Forbes Robertson) will terminate with the final performance of "Enter, Madame" to-night. It is eeldom indeed taaf theatregoers in Xew Zealand are privileged to seo artists oi the high calibre -of Miss Elliott while they are still in their prime. She has made an impression which will not be readily effaced. In her opening play, "'Woman to Woman," s"ho revealed herself as an emotional actress of uncommon gifts and of convincing power. Subsequently she appeared in a repertoire embracing "Bluebeard's Eighth Wife," "Sinilin" \ U J? V and -" Enter . Madame," which snowed her to also possess the art of comedy portrayal and a versatility that is remarkable. It will be with real regret that playgoers in this city will part with iliss -Elliott, who will tour the south, where she 13 certain of an enthusiastic reception. -Memories cf her delightful artistry, her reservo in dramatic acting, her surencss of touch in cultured characterisation, and her genius of interpreting the parts she plays, wiij Jong icmain with those who havo witnessed her work. Her visit to Christchurch marks an epoch in the dramatic history of the city. To-morrow evening Miss Gertrude Elliott ana her talented supporting company will commence a season of two nights at the Iheatre Royal, Timaru, when ""Woman to woman" will be staged. On Friday night the delightful comedy, "Enter, Madame," will bo presented. On Saturday night the Dunedin season will be entered upon with the production of "Woman to Woman." Invcrcargill will be visited on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.- February 23rd, 24th, and 25th. The play 3 selected for representation in that city comprise "Woman to Woman;"' "Smilin" Through," and "Enter, Madame."
