A message from Luxor states that the enormous pink granite sarcophagus, containing the mummy of Tut-Ankh-Amen, is now fully exposed. The lid is covered with inscriptions, and the entablature carries on the frieze inscriptions in which Pharaoh's cartouche appears, while below the key oc life is introduced. The most striking figures are four goddesses, modelled in deep-relief at each corner, whose arms arc outstretched to protect the sleeping Pharaoh. Excavators are now trying to raiso the heavy lid of the sarcophagus.
