Seven steamers arriving: yesterday, in addition to those hem over the week-end, made the port quite busy, and the whole of the available labour was absorbed.
The Teea was expected last night from the Chatnam islands, sue has been delayed by t»d weather, as she should have been in yesterday morning. She is to bo despatched this afternoon for Wavtangi, Chatham Islands. The Wairau is expected this morning from Blenheim to load tor that port direct. 'ihe Wakatu is to load to-day for Kaikourai and Wellington. The Kennedy arrived yesterday afternoon from .IToxton, and \will completo loading for that port this morning. The Waikoiiaiti is to sail this afternoon for Timaru and Sydney. The Kauri is expected to-night from Newcastle with coal. Tho Cygnet went on 'the slip yesterday, for cleaning and pointing. Sho should be ready for sea to-morrow. Tho Moeraki ia duo to-morrow from Melbourne, via Wellington, and is to eail in tho afternoon on tho arrival of tho 1.30 p.m. train jroni Christchurch, for Melbourne, via l>uneclin and Bluff.
The Flora is due early on Thursday morning from Napier with cheep. The Opihi lonSa on Thursday for Nelson and New Plymouth and sail 3 via Wellington. The Orcpuki 18 to load salvaged cargo from the Port Elliott at Napier this week for Lyttelton. The John is timed to load on Thursday for Wellington, Wanganui, and New Plymouth.
Recently the Progress has made two trips to Waikato ports with produce and. general cargo from Timaru, Lyttelton, and Wellington. Messrs. Holm and Co. now announce that the vessel will now run a. regular threeweeldy service to the Waikato. A radio niessage received yesterday from the Canadian Cruiser, en routo from Melbourne to Lyttelton, stated that, the vessel would arrive in the stream at 10 o'clock this morning.
Captain S. Holm, who has been on a visit to Sydney, is expected to. return to Wellington by the Ulimairoa to-morrow. Captain S. A. Chatfield has taken command of the ,Opihi, relieving Captain C. Elders, who his transferred to the Kahiko. Captaw G. A. Grey, of the Kahika, has come aahom on holiday leave. The steamer Svaxten was due at Bluff yesterday from Newcastle to commence loading for English and Continental'ports. She later takes in cargo at Duncdin end Timaru, and will leave Timaru finally for London The c. and D. liner Port Sydney, at,present unloading London cargo at Wellington, is to leave there to-day for Port Chalmers to complete discharge. The liner Westmeath arrived at Wellington yefcerday from Auckland to put out cargo from- New York to the agency of the Federal, Line. She saile on Triday for Lyttelton Timaru, Dunedin and Melbourne to complete discharge. i ol W^S^ nui °° Friday for New Plymouth. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company are \ n receipt of coble advico that the Mania left Monte Video at noon on January 3Jst for Teneriffe and London, en route from Lyttelton. The vessel soiled from Lyttelton on January 11th.
