PAPANUI PROGRESS LEAGUE.
A meeting of the- Papanui Progress 'League was held in the Library lust evening, Mr "W. J. Boyce occupying the chair. Mr Chapman moved that both, the City Council and the Waimairi County Council ba written to asking that the loan proposal regarding the purchase of the pangdon rnad domain site be pushed forward at <»nc3. Mr Cox seconded the motion, and said he was of the opinion that am or two were not in favour of the pioponed park, and they were trying to diUy-dally along and ultimately she'rve the proposal. The motion was carried.
It was also decided to ask that another deputation bo received by the Wairuairi County Council.
Somo discussion took place regard n? toe new road which is being formed from Hawthorne road to Norman's road. Complaints were made that Searle's road, and Holton road were left blind instead of being opened on to the new road. A letter from the Public "Works Department to Mr G. "Witty, M.P., who had witten in connexion with the matter, was read, and it was ultimately decided to leave the matter with Mr Kirk to consult with Mr Clough a3 to the beet way in which tno league could, obtain a, satisfactory ee'.Uoment.
A lett«r was received from Mr G. E. Bailey regarding a proposed road . from the North read, past the police station to the railway station. He said that part of the land belonged to the Justice Department. It wa3 decided to support the puichua* «sl th> nccctsary land fiom the Justice Department. It was decided to write to the Marlborongu Chamber of Commerce offering every ansistance in having the work of completing ths South Island • Main Trunk railway. l.m carried out.

This wa.i seconded by Mr Kirk and carried. _ It was also decided to write to the "War-. mairi County Council drawing their attention to the early calling of the sanitary waggons in certain parts of the district in recent month, cases having been reported of waggons calling as early as 7.45 p.m. One new member was elected during the evening, imd an account for £1 was passed lot payment.
