CONTROL OF DRIVERS.
NEW REGULATIONS^ New regulations for the control of licensed drivers came before the City Council for confirmation last night. The new by-law read: '' The [Council may cancel or suspend, for such period as it thinks fit, the license in respect of any vehicle, or any driver'a or conductor's license, or any certificate of competency/ or ability, if it is proved to the satisfaction of the Council, or any committee of the Council to whom power in that behalf has been delegated—that the owner of such vehicle or such driver or conductor, or the folder of a certificate (whether of competency or ability) as the case may be, has been: (a) Drunk when in charge of a licensed vehicle; or (b) been convicted of a crime; or (c) has been associated with prostitutes, spielers, or persona of the criminal class; or (d) has been convicted of furious or reckless driving or of any offence which endangers the life or safety of other persons; or (e) has been guilty of any misconduct which in the opinion of the Council or of such committee should disqualify him from holding such license or certificate. The Council adopted the by-law.
