At the Midland Bank meeting, Mr Reginald McKenna said that there 'were indications that the world was ne&ring the end of a trying period. "I am hopeful that we are now on the road to recovery," concluded Mr McKenna. "I am happy to say that I believo the labours of the Separations Committee will bo successful, and I am hopeful-that the result will lead to some change in the mentality of those dealing with reparations, which is. indispensable before permanent peace caa be achieved.'^ [Mr McKenna is chairman of tho Separations Commission's second Expert Committee, which is investigating the flight of Geiman capital.]
