Cr. A. MeKcllar stated at the meetof tho City Council last night that about Christmas time a very fine • picturo of the Memorial Column had been published by "The Press." Ho asked whether .any communication had been received regarding tho suggestion that the City Council and Tramway Board should combine' to construct a base for the column, which would be in keeping with the scheme put forward some years ago by Mr Hurst Seager, by which the column could be erected in the Square on an artistic base that could be used as a shelter.
