A meeting of tho Sumnor Borough Council was held last night, those present being— The Mayor (Air W. H. Nicholson, Councillors <J. H. lioswell, 1L C. <1 amie&on, H. "V. Harris, !•'. C. Cooper, E. Peck, P. Uick, ami J. 11. Thomas.

Tho financial otateiuent ahowed a dobit on December 31st of £7ll tls. The expenditure on tho general account for tho niuo montli3 ending December olst amounted to £1127 16s Id, the estimated receipts being £lO7l. Accounts amounting to £2162 13a 3d were recommended for payment.
It was. reported that the Cbristchurch Band Contest Committeo had been" granted permission to uso tho Band Kotunda, on Sunday, February 17tli, and tho Town Clerk hatl been authorised to procure a screen iox tho rotunda, ~ Arrangements had been made with tho Heiithcoto County Council to havu the main road repaired. Arrangements had been made with the harbourmaster to renew tho" lifebuoy at tho pier. An application for permission to tuHd a motor garago within 15 feet of another building without a. brick wall was declined. Tho Town Clerk having roported thni a. canvass of tho borough was f being mado in connexion with the payment ot dog registration fees, notices had bean iient to okick requesting payment within fourteen days. In this connexion it was recommended that if not paid within fourteen days aftex notice the Town Clerk should take proceedings for recovery. Referring to an application for tho installation of g&s and electricity in Sam street, where there aro no mains, it was recommended that half of tho coat of gas reticulation and tho whole of tho cost of electrical extension bo charged, and a- charge of £•-! bo made towards tho cost of extension ol" tho main on iiain road, llcCormack Bav, bo endorsed. Tho Superintendent cf tho Volunteer Fire Brigade reported on tho recent fire. Ha a±so recommended the purchase of 500 feet of ns'.v hose. Tho report wris received. Tho question of area of control of beach inspectors was rained by Cr. Karris. It was resolved to communicate with the Life Saving Clilb regarding the matter.
Cr. Peek stated that an o£er of £7 had been made for tho dinghy. It w* s resolved to write to tho Lifeboat Brigade oa the oubjeci.
