"THE ARMAGEDDON."
LECTURE BY MR KINNINMONTH
The Liberty Theatre ' was woll filled last evening, when ilr K. A. Kinninmonth, of Melbourne, under the auspices of the International Bible Students' Association, delivered a lecture upon the coming of the Armageddon. The word "Armageddon," he said,' in the original tongue, signified the Hill of Megiddo, or Mount of Destruction, and w»3 situ«ited in the Valley of jisdraelon—the scene of inany of the battles recorded in the Old Testament. Public opinion, led by tho brightest minds of the present day, eoemed to .sense ihe - fact that modern civilisation was marching to its Hill of Destruction,, and warnings from every quarter passed by unheeded. Tho battles of tho Israelites in a measure pictured this conflict, particularly the overthrow of the Mtidianites. The Midianitcß rieefcrovied themselves in their confusion, and m'ado it possible- for Israel, to live in peace. The present day Midianites wore tho combined forces of financial, ecclesiastical, and political power, organised against' iho best interesta of the people, and eo opposed to themselves that money was becoming useless) churches emptying and losing their hold on the people, and crowds toppling off the hcad3 of the one-timo unquestioned rulers of tha people. These events were duo to the fact that Christ was taking up His power to reign, and was letting the light of truth and liberty ehino forth, and tho enemies of the- peopio wero destroying themselves. Prophecy declared 'that wjien trouble had accomplished the work of purifying the nations and the people in general, God would turn to the people a pure language. They must bo left to have this pure langu&go turned to them, henco millions now living would never die. Mr Kinninmonth then went on to detail the -philosophy of ,the matter. . He will deliver a further illustrated lecture on "Reconstruction'" in the Liberty Theatre next Srjsday.
