NEW COLUMBIA RECORDS.
A notable achievement goes to tie credit of the Columbia Company, in the recording of Beethoven's Seventh Symphony, spread over four double-aided records and one face of a fifth. Tho movement of this fine symphony is the beautiful Allegretto. which invariably invokes a round of applause whenever pioyed. Tills movement lias been very well recorded. The wholo symphony is well worth tho while of collectors ot good gramophone music, while to thoso who preior something. not qtiite on so high a plane ot musical culture tho allegretto should not be neglocted. ' Ulysses Lappas, a very fine operatio tenor, who is now singing for Columbia, presents two numbers from "X Pagliacoit" \ csti le. Guibba," and "No Pagliacci! Noa Sonl ' Two notablo vocal numbers from Columbia are presented by Hubert in Ah, Though the Silver Moon Wero Mine! and bracketed on the same record, "You Flaunt Your Beauty." The filst of these is tho work of Comfort, Parry, and Lohr, in. collaboration; the latter is from "Tho Golden Threshold" (Naidu and Lehmann). Dame Clara. Butt and Mr Konnerley Ruinford come forward with a charming duet in canon, "Friendship," a Betting by Theo. Miirzials of some - beautiful lines by Sir Philip Sydney. Wagnerian music is represented by Mr Norman Allia, whoso line basso is heard with splendid effect in numbers from "The Twilight of the Cods," "Hagen'd Watch, and "iLagen's Call," Bung in English. These arc sung with vital feeling and great dramatic power. From "The Immortal Hour," a delicate fantasy which took London by storm last season, come two delightful selections, "The Love Duct," and "The Faery Chorus," each of which is conducted by the composer, Mr Roland BougTiton. In dance muaio Columbia, is well leproeented—six new fox-trots by Paul Speckt's orchestra, & large Selection of tho "Blues" dance music, which has been the rage in America and Europe during tho past season, and, needless to say, tho übiquitous "Yes Wo Have No Bananas."
