ASSOCIATION' tmEGEia.) AUCKLAND, January 24. Firs broke out in J. B. McEwen and Co.'s two-storeyed building in Port street this evening. Though flames were leaping high through the skylight when the brigade arrived, a good save was efiected in five minutes. Extensive damage was done to tho top storey, woodwork and flooring being burnt and tho machinery and stock daraage3. Carr, Pountney and ; Co.'s stock o£ cocksfoot and clover in tho adjoining building waa damaged by water. There are no details of th© losses or insurances.
