PRIVATIONS OF BOAT'S CREW. (rBESS ASSOCIATION TELKGBAM.) AUCKLAND, December 7. The crew of the Auckland auxiliary schooner Kaeo, which was totally lost at , & Tuapa, Niue Island, on October 24th, were passengers by the steameul Tofua, which arrived here last night' from Apia and Suva. Speaking of the discomforts of ihe boat voyage, Captain Mac Donald said that they certainly did not expect to encounter. such heavy weather as they did. It did not stop raining for two hours on end at an/ one time during ths whole very unusual thing in those latitudes at that petriod of the year. They were cold and wet most of the time and when the sun did shine, their sodden clothes steamed on tnem. The weather, said Captain Mac Donald, was just .as bad as anyone, wou'.d want in any ship, and the little boat behaved vtry well. ■ " Mr Griffiths, the mate of the Kai-o, was left at Niue to take charge while ihe ooat was making her trip to Ap'.a. He' was 11£paring another boat to make the passage to Vavau, in the Tongan group, and voula have put to sea' with a couple of nea rr? November. 30th had not the Lady Itoberr.3 put in an appearance at Niue on November -17 th. The second boat cruise was projected, bscause it was felt that quite possibly Captain Mac Donald's boat might not arrive tt Apia. The boat in which the Eaeo's men sailed to Apia waß brought to Auckland en tho davits of the Tofua. 4 , I LOSS OF A KETCH. SEVEN PERSONS MISSING. (rBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, December 7. Tbp seas were sweeping the decks. The captain served out lifebelts and hoisted out a little raft. The Indians swa/med on to it without lifebelts and it capsized. Several of them disappeared. Three of the. other passengers reached the reef. Major Tottenham, leaving C. Nettles, a storekeeper of Vaviuni, and a Chinaman resting there, reached the shore after a great struggle.
