Life-Saving. A meeting of the committee or t«' e Life-Saving Club was held on Wednesday, Mr T. Xewburgh presiding. Tne secretary reported that tho new members elected to date numbered 111. The chairman submitted plans of the proposed alterations to t-V pavilion. Tliesa provided for an extension of both floors 17ft by 12ft. The programme of events for a*carnival on December 22nd was approved. It was decided to enter teams fcr the Centre Liie-saving Competitions. W.C.T.TT. At the annual meeting of the W.C.T.U.. Mrs J. MeCombs presided. and submitted the annual report, wlncii showed a vear of progress along eralines. Mrs Booth presented the annual balante-sUjct, which showed -t satisfactorv credit. Solos were sung l» Miss Pcnott, and Mrs T. h. l»vU>r gave an address on past hindrances to Union work and suggesting plans tor the future. The election of president was left in abeyance, Mrs MeCombs having expressed her intention of resigning in February. 1 11 resoonse to several requests, Mrs MeCombs agreed to speak of her recent trip to Queensland at the opening meeting in February. Marine Band. The band has been practising for tho Redcliffs Gala, but unfortunately tlie lack of instruments is a big handicap. At a meeting held during the week the members voted unanimously for Bessou instruments, and a half-set of these, Class A, (dated and engraved, are expected to come to hand in the course ot a few (lavs. These will be on exhibition in the windows of Ohailes Begg and Co., the same firm having graciously loaned the baud some half-dozen instruments to "carry on" with. The thanks of the band are due to Mr Payne for his assistance in helping to put the band on a sound footing. Children'.s Sale of Work. A large gathering of parents and friends assembled in the Parish Boom on Tuesday evening for the sale of work organised by children of the Sunday School. The stalls presented a gay appearance, with their artistic decorationsand attractive articles, all made by the children themselves. The Bcv. K. C. W.-Powell, who opened the proceedings, gave a short speech, in which he explained the origin' and object of the sale. He expressed his pleasure at the large attendance, and said that the sale reflected great credit on the children. An enjoyable musical programme was given, the following being the items:—Pianoforte solo, Miss Dulcie Tye; recitation, "The Sea Fever," Miss Natalie Hampton; dance. "The Butterfly," Miss Elise Crosby; pianoforte solo, 'Petite Valse," Master William Brettell; recitation, "Where's Mother?" Miss Dorothy Alexander; pianoforte solo. Miss Nerolie SmitbJson,; recitation, "Baby Bear." Miss Byllee Brown; dance, "The Elfs," Misses Marjorie Chambers and Natalie Hampton. The stalls and their attendants were as follows:—Sweets stall, Miss Natalie Hampton, Marjorie Chambers, and Gladys Bates; fancy stall, Misses Enid Chambers, .Dorothy'Mathews, and Dorothy Alexander; produce and cake, Misses Betty Pickering, Ariti Andrews, Ettio Barber, and Natalie- Partridge; soft drinks, Misses Phyllis Fitzhenry and Patricia .MeCombs.
