The following statement shows the Scottish emigration to the United States and Canada during July, August and September:— U.S.A. Canada. Total. July" ~ 3.400 4.000 7,400 August 4,000 8,350 12,350 September 9,570 7,530 17,100 Totals 16,970 ID,BSO 30,8-50 The August figures include 3700 harvesters, about 2000 of -whom sailed from Liverpool and Southampton. About 1000 Scottish emigrants sailed from these English, ports in July. So that, roughly, 3000' have to be deducted from the above total to arrive atr the number —practically 34.000 —of the passengers who have sailed direct from the Clyde.
