A PROSPEROUS LAND.

MB MASSEY ON N.Z. (»X CABUS—PBBSS ASSOCIATIOH —COPJBIGHT-) (AOSTBAUAtf AOT> X.S. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) '< LONDON, December 7. (Speaking at a luncheon tendered to Mr S. M. Bruce and himself at Huddersfield Chamber of Commerce, Mr Massey declared that New Zealand was the most prosperous of all British countries to-day. He emphasised the part played by Yorkshiremen resident in New Zealand and the work they had done in the past in developing the ©ommion. Ho appealed for more enthusiasm in this country in matters of Imperial concern, and declared that when Britain went to war the Empire went with her. He appealed to all, no matter what their party politics were, to put the Empire first every time. He hoped to see British history better taught in all the schools. "Without intruding on British politics he hoped that nothing would be done on Thursday to interfere with the achievements at the Imperial Conference. Dominion preference was a step towards Imperial Freetrade, which was approaching. Respecting food and raw material, he said: "There is more joy over one sinner . (Laughter.) We had better leave it at that."
