■ 1 ■ W . '—* i> • "W. Dixon, aged 17 years, of 46 Nursery road, Linwood, .while riding in the Marshland Road Race last night, received a fall through one of his bicycle wheels collapsing. He received injuries to the-face and shoulder and was treated in the out-patients' department of the Christchurch Hospital and discharged. W. Craib, aged 17 years, of 23 Devon street, Sydenham, who was riding in the same race, fell over Dixon. He receeivd" injuries to. his shoulder, hip, and knee. A plucky rescue was effected in the Matai River by Richard Washbourn, the 13-year-old son of Dr. H. E. A. Washbourn, who dived for and rescued D Kenning, a fully-grown man, who had gone down for the last time.
