FUNERAL OF CAPTAIN MAIR.

» (FXI39 ASSOCIATZ'OW miGIAH.) BOTOBUA, December 2. The body of the late Captain Gilbert Mair was interred in the grounds of Saint Faith's Church, in the Ohinemutu Pa this afternoon. There was a large gathering ,of Maoris and Europeans, including the Hon. J. G. Coates, Messrs P. P. Hockly, C. E. Macmillan, and K. S. Williams, MJP.'s and several European and native veterans of the Maori Wars. The Rev. F. H. Spencer conducted the funeral service and the Hon. J. G. Coates gave a short address, paying a tribute to Captain Mair's services and eulogising the Arawas r loyalty and generosity, especially in gi% r ing valuable reserves to the public. Military honours were paid to the deceased, detachments of Territorials and Cadets being present under Major Sumner.
