AQUATICS.

REDCLIFFS REGATTA. Given fine wuather on Saturday next large crowda will vinit Kedclifis on the occasion of tho annual regatta and gala, in search of sport, and amusement. They will not be disappointed, an there will be something doing ©Very minute of the day. The celebrated Woolsion Band will be in attendance in the afternoon, and a galaxy of aide shows has been assembled in which many novelties will be been. The sporting enthusiast* will ;have ample to engage their attention. Finst of alu the rowing races, in which the best of Canterbury's scullers aru taking' part;, then the yacht racing, in which tho whole of the Redclifis fleet will be engaged, and finally the speedy motor boats and hydroplanes will" cause a thrill to the onlookers. But that is not all; there will be a race for Sea Scouts, a punt race, and an exhibition .of aquaplaning-. On the land tilso there will be races for adults and children.

The aide of the gala is a strong one, but the amusement aide will rim if very closely for pride of place. There will also be stalls and tents for the sale of ices, soft drinks, lollies, cakes and produce, and a huge tea tent will cater forthe wants of overyone. For the children there will be slides, pony rides, Christmas tree and libext.l prizee iox races, so that many families who decide to make a picnic day at Bedolifts; on Saturday next will find plenty to amuaei them. In the evening there will be a cabaret dance, at which Brooks's famous jazz string band will provide the music.
