PROTECTION OF BRITAIN. . LONDON, November 1. The precarious position of King George of Greece is revealed by an official announcement that he has decided not to go to Belgrade for the christening of the baby Jfrince, ius nephew. The fact is that the King is a prisoner. The revolutionary Government forbade the Belgrade trip, fearing that if the King_ left the country, he would never return. Considerable anxiety is felt in Royalist circles as to what may be t"he fate of the King. Although he is.not confined to his palace in Athens he is under constant surveillance, and his movements are restricted. Only -the King's life and that of his brother, Prince- Paul, stand between M. Vemzelos and dictatorship. The Greek revolutionary Government has been officially Informed, sa/s the "Daily News," that.Britain would view with "great uneasiness any revolutionary movement resulting in the overthrow of the dynasty. Britain also states that she would he loth to believe the Greek Government capable of taking such a step, which would be likely to compromise so seriously the country's future. It is understood that the Greek Government asked Britain to disclose her views on the political situation.
