FASTING AND FEASTING.
. Mr Edwin Geaeh, of Union Theatres, Ltd., Sydney, recalls some of the sights that impressed him during his recent tour abroad, thus:— "The greatest display of wealth, side by side w'ith poverty, that I witnessed, was aboard the Majestic from England to America. The ag&nising contrast was provided by the saloon passengers on the one hand and the immigrants on the other. "Aboard the boat was one Rosenburg, a Chicago milliionaire. -, His parents landed in America as immigrants. Rosenburg occupied a suite costing him for the few . days a thousand guineas. "The most picturesque sight? Standing on the balcony of- the Casino at Monte Carlo one Sunday morning, watching the American millionaires' speed boats in the Mediterranean . "It was supposed to be the off-sea-son when T was in Monte Carlo. Yet people in their thousands were flocking into the Casino, rich and poor, young and old, debonair and deformed. "The funniest sight was at Los Angeles, where every one man in three owns a motor-car. Usually a Ford. It is a common thing to see on the wind screen in large lettering: 'For sale, 30 dollars.' Anyone who cares to represent himself as a prospective buyer can have, legally, a joy-ride at the expense of the seller—which, I might tell you, is done all day,long/'
