The Assembly of the League unanimously voted for the admission of Abyssinia to the League of Nations.
INTERNATIONAL DISPUTES.
(Received Septembor 30th, 5.5 p.m.) GENEVA, September 29.
Arising out of the recent Italo-Greek conflict, Viscount Ishii, at a meeting of the Council, announced a decision to refer the question of the Council's, competence to deal with disputes between members of the League winch were insoluble by friendly methods to a commission of jurists. M. Branting expressed a preference for the Court of International Justice. Lord Robert Cecil urged the necessity of immediately deciding questions at issue.
Dr. Nansen supported M. Branting. All the speakers showed anxiety for due respect for the Covenant. Professor Niell, representing Ireland, advocated respect for the League in adjudicating on disputes, each member of the Council to be entitled to nominate jurists for the commission, which would report to the December meeting.
