The Raknia Horticultural Society's Annual Spring Show was held in Mr Tucker's Hall yesterday. Ihe weather has been verf favourable, and though the show wne held a full week earlier than usual, the number and quality or the exhibits eclipsed all previous standard's. Mr Stanlev Smith, of Methyen, showed for exhibition purposes only a. splendid collection of narcissi. This exhibit was quite a feature of the show and was greatly admired Mrs b. Holmes also had on exhibition n _ fine collection of cut--flowers. Most of the classes were well filled, and competition was Keen.-so that- the judges' task was a difficult one. With so many entries some crowding was noticeable among the cxhibts of flowers. 4 committee of ladieg had been at work preparing for the luncheon broth, flnd tlieir efforts were well rewarded with the considerable patronage they met with. The proceeds are used to benefit the funds of the Society. The judges were as follows: —Flowers smd vegetables, Mr A. Millichamp, of Ashburton; miscellaneous section, Mr F. P. Ccokson, of Ashburton; home industries, Mrs Stainger and Mi's Walter, of Dunenndol; school section. Mr 11. J. Thompson, of Technical School* Ashburton; children's bouquets, Mrs McDougall and Mrs Black. The prize list is as follows, the number of entries being in parentheses: — POT PLANTS. Mead 2.
