FALSE RETURNS OF INCOME.
(PBBSS ASSOCIATION IVXWBiH.) ~ DUNED'IN, September 7. Samuel Dunn, &h. ex-publican, was fined a total of £2OO on cna.ges of miming false returns of income, in respect of his hotel at Heiiot. the income shown on Ihinn's return for two years was £1587 and the tax paid was £lls, whereas an investigation showed that tho actual income was £7430 and the, tax payable £1725. The defendant admitted the offence, c his explanation being that ho was smarting under a sense of injustice through his license being lost in boundary alterations, and. wanted to get square with the Government
