SCOTTISH SOCIETY.
The monthly Ceilidh of the Scottish Society was held on Thursday, when a large {fathering of members ana {fiends assembled, Chief J. S. Chisholm presiding. Piper Groves opened with a selection on the Highland war pipes. The chief notified that on Thursday. September 20th, a concert would be given in aid of the Presbyterian Orphanages, and aslted members t<« patron-jje it. There weio three nominations lor membership. Musical items were contributed by Mesdames Stellard and Scott. Messrs C. iiilis and Green, reciter tions by Miss Maynard and Master; Scott, violin bolo by Mr Wooloick, and a banjo quartet. Miss Dora Lindsay gave a medley of Scottish aire, at the conclusion of which Chief Chisholm, on behalf of the Society; presented her with a souvenir in recognition of her valued services rendered the Society, and wished ,-lier a successl id tour. Dances were given as follows:—Fling, Mis 3 Isabel McLean; Gillie Caluni, Miss May Grigor; Highland Eeel, Misses 11. Grigor, N.- Chisholm, M. Aitken, and 1. McLcar.. The accompaniments for the vocalists were played by Man E. A. Smith.
