BALL AT CANTERBURY COLLEGE.
If tho Canterbury College students are half as energetic in pursuing their studies as they are in organising successful social functions, they must bring much joy into the lives of their Professors. Certainly in the matter of balls they are indefatigable, each organisation in the College having its own special annual gathering. This week it was the Football Club that was making merry, and, its members and friends held a delightful ball in the College Hall last night. Bed and gold streamers stretched from a huge but beautifully-shaped football of crinkled paper formed effective and appropiiato decorations. The music was supplied by Sutherland's members of the ball committee were Misses J. Baker, W. Wilkinson, Messrs C. D. Edmondson, G. H. Robertson, W. T. Langbein, and D. T. Okey, who acted as honorary SC Amongst the ladies present were Mrs Chilton, who wore black panne velvet with lace sleeves and jet trimin£r - Mrs Hight, black satin with sidepanel lined with almond-green satin; Mrs Foweraker, black satin with girdle of autumn-tinted leaves; Misses Edna Bruce, deep rose-pink panne velvet with narrow bands of brown fur; Isocline Bruce, effective frock of mignonette panne velvet with rows of shirring on the hips: Wave Wilkinson, maize satin and cire lace; Louie lies, black taffeta with deep berthe of white georgette, edged with black ribbon; Lorna Broughton, blue and gold shot taffeta; Kura Broughton, draped frock of vert-green velvet; Aileen Milne, green and gold shot taffeta; Nona Miller, geranium-red panne velvet; R. Milne, pale green brocade; R. Jefcoate, lemon taffeta and cire lace; Beryl Smith, roso pink and maize shot satin; Barbara Graham, carnation taffeta with bouffant side-panels; Tottie Paterson, blue georgette over taffeta, with gold lace berthe; May Eennie, lilac satin veiled with silver lace; Merva Somerset, primrose satin, with panelled sldrt opening over blue satin; Miriam Somerset, black taffeta with side-panel of goH; Mary Leckie, pretty frock of reseda-green taffeta; Ivy Webb, uncommon frock of pinnea cloth and violet satin; Esme Lamb, blue shot taffeta, trimmed with kilting and tiny bows; Julia lies, I draped frock of white satin; Phyllis [ Hollow, black satin with overdress of black and henna sequins; Ethel Thomas, dainty frock of shadow lace oyer blusli-pink satin; Doris Morriss, souple satin; Jessie Slocombe, turquoiseblue crepe de chine with chou and streamers of vari-coloured ribbons; Barbara Hale, almond-green crepe de chine; Roma, Ashman, ivory crepe de chine with ivory lace berthe and circlet of tiny flowers; Lorna Saunders, cerise satin with cire lace panels; C. E.
