QUINNAT SALMON.
SPEftT FISH FOUND IN PAHOA RIVER.
(PP.ESS ASSO.'C>.TIJN TIiLROKAIt.) WELLINGTON, September 5. In a report to the Minister of Marine, Mr L. P. Aysoii, Chief Inspector of Fisheries, says that quihn&t salmon have made their way across Cook Strait. To-day a spent fish Was found in the Pahoa river, South Wairarapa. Mr Ayson saya the fact that a spent fish was found shows that a number spawned there last season. Mr Ayson expects to hear soon of quinhat salihon running into the Ruamaliunga. aud tributary rivers in the Wairarapa, and into the Hutt river.
